Curling Rink Open for All!

There’s one winter sport at the Games that keeps audiences on the edge of their seats -whether in the stadium or in front of the TV. Its charm is irresistible. Have you guessed what it is?
Curling!
But what if, instead of just watching it, you could play it yourself? At the House of Switzerland, that’s possible! Thanks to a special rink installed in the Piazza, free and open to everyone, and powered by Glice’s high-tech technology and premium materials, you can step onto the ice and try your hand at this thrilling sport.
Experiment. Train. Become unbeatable. Then… gather your team and take part in the big public tournaments scheduled for Saturday, 7 February and Saturday, 7 March! The Premio Casa Svizzera is waiting to be won.
More about curling…
Curling, popular in countries like Switzerland, Canada, and Scotland, pits two teams of four players against each other on the ice. The goal is to slide granite stones (weighing around 20 kg) as close as possible to a circular target called the house. Teams take turns throwing their stones, aiming to get closer to the centre or to push the opponent’s stones away.
And the key tool? The broom! Players sweep the ice in front of the moving stone, reducing friction and allowing it to travel further and curve more - or less - depending on their strategy.
At the end of each “end” (similar to an inning or a set), the team with the stone closest to the centre of the house scores points. The game generally consists of 8 or 10 ends, and the winner is the team with the most points.
